Escaping the Information Cocoon with AI | Kee Lee | TEDxWangjiang St

For centuries, a teacher's job was to be the content provider — pouring knowledge into students trapped in what Kee calls the "information cocoon." Then AI arrived, and teachers everywhere feared obsolescence. Drawing on his own burnout in a Chengdu classroom and his reinvention as an EdTech solopreneur, Kee shares the epiphany that changed everything: the human role isn't to compete with AI as a data engine, but to evolve into a "Learning Architect." Through his R.U.A. method — Recognize, Understand, Apply — he shows how partnering with AI can turn passive consumers into active creators, and makes the case that in an AI age, we should let machines handle the data, and humans handle the humanity. Kee is an independent IELTS trainer and EdTech specialist based in Chengdu. Bridging technology and language learning, he holds a degree in Information Management and Information Systems. Kee began his career at EF Education First, advancing from a Life Club coordinator to an Expert Teacher and Product Manager, and holds TKT and CertTESOL qualifications. He has also worked as an interpreter for international tours, including the Backstreet Boys. As an educator, Kee has achieved exceptional IELTS scores (Listening 9, Reading 8.5, Speaking 8.5) and teaches students globally. He integrates his IT background into education by coding bespoke web-based coursewares and developing specialized AI prompts. Kee empowers students to overcome language barriers using his proprietary teaching frameworks, such as the RUA Method. Guided by the philosophy that "learning is learning how to learn," he helps students reduce cognitive load, master trains of thoughts, and maximize their potential.
