AI is not the threat; we are. This talk explores how deepfake technology and AI-generated media are eroding trust, harming individuals, and reshaping reality as we know it. Through evidence of rapid growth in synthetic media and our collective failure to detect it, the talk confronts the real-world consequences we are only beginning to understand. Yet AI also saves lives, unlocks education, and accelerates discovery. The technology is not the problem. The problem is us: our choices, our ethics, and the responsibility we keep outsourcing to machines.
