When AI Takes Control of the Cloud | Vasantha Kumar Hosahalli Seenappa | TEDxCNS Pune Youth
We often think of the cloud as something invisible and weightless. In reality, it depends on a vast network of physical infrastructure that keeps our data, financial transactions, and digital services connected. In this talk, Vasantha Kumar Hosahalli Seenappa explores the growing complexity of global cloud networks and the challenges of managing them as they expand. Drawing from his experience in network engineering and cloud security, he examines how artificial intelligence could help detect threats, respond to failures, and manage systems that are becoming too complex for humans to oversee manually. But greater automation also raises an important question: how much control should we give to AI when critical systems are at stake? Vasantha introduces three principles for building trust in autonomous networks: restraint, evidence, and visibility. He argues that AI-driven infrastructure must operate within clear boundaries, make decisions based on verified information, and keep humans informed and accountable. His central message is that intelligence alone is not enough. As we give AI greater responsibility for the systems we depend on, trust must be designed into the architecture from the beginning. The future of digital infrastructure will depend not only on how intelligently our systems operate, but on how safely and responsibly they make decisions. Vasantha Kumar Hosahalli Seenappa is a Senior Network Engineer at Yahoo Inc., specializing in enterprise-scale cloud network infrastructure, cyber defense, and machine learning security. An active leader in the scientific community, Vasanthability global networks, his research focuses on integrating automated AI models into SASE and Zero-Trust cloud environments to proactively detect and mitigate complex cyber threats. He is the primary inventor behind a granted UK Registered Design for AI-driven cloud computing security hardware (GB Patent 6538224). An active leader in the scientific community, Vasantha serves as a Technical Program Committee member and peer reviewer for major IEEE and international computing conferences, continuously contributing to the advancement of next-generation cloud security architectures. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
